From dolphin cruises and fishing to shopping to just enjoying the beach - warm memories are made on the Emerald Coast. Thousands of visitors flock to Destin-Ft. Walton Beach-Okaloosa Island each year for vacations, reunions, destination weddings, and tours. As part of our Tourism Week campaign Celebrating Emerald Coast Memories and Traditions, we collected submissions from previous visitors. "My dad and I took a trip to Ft. Walton Beach every year for 4th of July. We looked forward to it all year. In 2007 we learned my dad had lung cancer. I had just had my son and him and my dad were inseparable. He knew he didn't have much longer with me or my son, but he used every bit of strength he had to survive for one last trip to our favorite vacation spot. He got pretty healthy so we took our last trip. My favorite memory of that trip was to walk into my dad's room in our condo and see him and my son sleeping so peacefully."
