22nd Annual Thunderbird Intertribal Powwow

The 22nd Annual Thunderbird Intertribal Powwow is once again being presented by Eglin Air Force Base and the Thunderbird Intertribal Council (a 501 c 3 non-profit Organization). This event will be held at the Mullet Festival Grounds in Niceville, FL on November 6 - 8, 2009. The first day of the event features Children’s Day from 9am to 2pm. All area school children are invited to participate with hands-on demonstrations by the Indian Temple Mound, Eglin Archeological, Valparaiso Heritage Museum, just to name a few. The entire event will feature Native American dancers, drummers, and craft demonstration. In the past, over 10,000 people attended this 3-day powwow. This is a wonderful event aimed at educating the local community about Native Americans and their role in the past and in modern day. The main powwow starts at 7pm on Friday and runs thru Sunday, with closing ceremonies at 4pm. Dancers from all over the country will compete Saturday night. This is an alcohol free event for the entire family with Native American vendors, dancers, food, singing, entertainment. 850.863.5311

30th Annual Toys-4-Tots (Bike Run)
Registration begins at 8:30am at Sam's parking lot, Fort Walton Beach. Bike parade starts at 11am and ends at the Mullet Festival site in Niceville. All motorcycles are welcome. Proceeds go to the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center and Children in Crisis. Live music, food, door prizes and adult and kid motorcyle contest. 850.217.9371

Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

The Destin Library will host Thanksgiving crafts for children at the library on 150 Sibert Avenue. Children ages 10 years and younger are invited to stop by and create a holiday craft (door hanger or pumpkin wreath). On November 23, 2:30 - 4:30pm ; on November 24 5:30 - 7:30pm. Habitat for Humanity and Harbor Docks Thanksgiving
Gather friends and family, locals and tourists, at Harbor Docks in Destin Thanksgiving Day from 11am-7pm for a free delicious turkey dinner compliments of Harbor Docks. Donations may be made to Okaloosa Habitat for Humanity as a thank you. Last year the annual Thanksgiving event raised $16,900 for the local Habitat for Humanity. 850.315.0025, ext 3.
