Pirate Exhibit

The Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center, along with the Friends of the Museums, presents an original exhibit titled "Pirates: The Last Scourge of the Gulf" opening May 29, 10am - 4:30pm. The exhibit is scheduled to be on display all summer inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum Lazarus Education Center. The exhibit examines the real pirates who swept across the Gulf of Mexico in the early 19th Century and wreaked havoc on American shipping along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida. Coast is $5 plus tax for adults; $4.50 plus tax for seniors 55 and older and military personnel; and $3 plus tax for children 3 - 17.

Hot & Bothered exhibit at the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida

This exhibit features a 1930's era kitchen with a rare Universa Electric Stove, one of the first General Electric Monitor Round-Top refrigerators; and collections of household items and advertising from days gone by. Vintage photographs from the museum's collection and Florida State Archives are included as well as an extensive collection of electric fans dating from 1906. This exhibit is sponsored by One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating. Museum hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm.

Art-Walk in Downtown Fort Walton Beach

Flag Raising Ceremony at Uptown Station in honor of Patriot Day
Uptown Station is home to Florida's tallest flagpole (170-feet). A Flag Raising Ceremony will be held at 12pm on September 10th in honor of Patriot Day (nationally commemorated on September 11th). Please join the Honor Guard walk the 50' x 80' Stars and Stripes down the length of Central Park, and hoist the flag in a solemn and moving ceremony.
